IP Unity and Syndeo Corporation Announce Reseller Agreement
Companies work to expand success in deploying IP service solutions for cable operators and carriers;MILPITAS, Calif. and CAMPBELL, Calif. — June 21, 2004— IP Unity, the market leader in IP service solutions for blended TDM and IP networks, and Syndeo Corporation, a leading vendor of Class 5 softswitch technology, announced that they have struck a strategic reseller agreement in which IP Unity's award-winning Harmony6000™ will be integrated into softswitch-centric VoIP applications for Syndeo customers across global markets.
The two companies have collaborated informally since 2002, in conjunction with Sumisho Electronics and Sumitronics, the marketing and integration subsidiaries of Sumitomo Corporation, to address carrier needs in Japan. Syndeo already provides softswitch and call-management solutions to Japan's four largest cable operators, and together the companies look to accelerate market penetration and leading edge IP services functionality for media-rich consumer demand in multiple markets.
Under the new agreement, Syndeo will market solutions that combine Syndeo's Syion Call Management Server/Media Gateway Controller (CMS/MGC) with the messaging and conferencing capabilities of IP Unity's Harmony6000Ô Media Server. IP Unity will also be a member of Syndeo's PLUS program, a pre-tested and pre-integrated PacketCableTM VoIP solution that cable operators can deploy today.
"We are taking progressive steps to smooth the adoption of VoIP for carriers," stated Dr. Keith Bhatia, senior VP of business development at IP Unity. "Our agreement with Syndeo will help cable operators and service providers to leverage the joint strengths and full interoperability of our two companies' IP switching and service platforms. We're both pledged to standards-based, innovative and best-of-breed multi-vendor IP solutions."
"Syndeo and IP Unity create high value and market leadership in our respective functional segments of the VoIP market," said John Appler, Syndeo VP of business development. "It makes great sense for Syndeo to integrate and resell the Harmony6000 in media-rich applications such as unified and multimedia messaging, conferencing and collaboration, running on top of our Syion CMS. This will drive even more value for our joint customer base."
IP Unity's broadly-deployed Harmony6000 Media Server and Applications Server solutions enable many popular IP services over one carrier class platform, and offer increasing value and returns to scale through innovative IP voice, data and video features. Over 130 systems have been purchased by 40 customers globally, supporting a growing suite of services for wireline cable and telco networks as well as mobile infrastructures.
Syndeo's Syion CMS has been chosen for deployment by cable operators and applications service providers in North America and Asia. Currently, the Syion CMS is supporting over 20,000 live subscribers in Japan, the largest VoIP-over-cable deployment in that country. Syndeo gained PacketCable 1.0 qualification in April 2003, and recently announced the availability of its Syion 3.0 release, which features the ability to support PacketCable MultimediaTM and other enhanced service offerings.
