IP Unity and Leapstone Systems Partner on IP Service Bundling and Provisioning for Top-Tier Carriers

MILPITAS, Calif. and SOMERSET, New Jersey — October 18, 2004— IP Unity, a leading provider of IP services for blended and converged networks, and Leapstone Systems, a leading provider of intelligent service delivery and content management solutions, have completed a Joint Marketing Agreement (JMA) to provide both IP features and automated provisioning for top-tier North American and international carriers. In addition, the companies have tested and jointly deployed IP Unity's unified messaging features with Leapstone's end-to-end service delivery platform in a large-scale U.S. RBOC network.

IP Unity is the carrier's first choice for critical applications such as messaging, conferencing, video and integrated communications features over all-IP and blended IP/TDM networks. Its innovative and cost-disruptive approach delivers many services via a single platform. IP Unity's HMS6000Ô Media Server is core to this platform -- it tightly integrates with traditional and IP wireline, cable and wireless networks, and easily enables bundling and customization of features by market and by user group.

Leapstone provides open, flexible software that lets operators design, package, deploy and manage a broad range of compelling content and services. As a foundation for VoIP service deployment, Leapstone's CCE serviceBROKER optimizes service flexibility and speeds time to market, enabling operators to create differentiated service packages for rapid delivery to their market segments.

Leapstone's CCE serviceBROKER has completed pre-integration interoperability testing with 19 network elements and three commercial OSS systems, ensuring that carriers can work with best-in-class elements in their service delivery architectures. In similar fashion, IP Unity's HMS6000 platform has completed 23 interoperability tests with major softswitches, media gateways, session controllers and SIP phones for consumer and hosted enterprise services, to facilitate open IP service solutions.

"The pairing of feature-enabling systems like IP Unity's HMS6000 with service delivery software such as Leapstone's serviceBROKER results in a valuable combination of front-end and back-end capabilities," stated Senior Analyst Danny Klein, with Yankee Group's Communications Network Infrastructure Group. "Especially for an RBOC-scale carrier, these critical functions must work hand-in-hand to ensure rapid service introduction, scalability and stable deployment costs."

"We are extremely gratified by the appeal that our products have generated with incumbents, IXCs and RBOCs, and this appeal is being further enhanced through our partnership with IP Unity's award-winning Unified Messaging, Conferencing and Collaboration feature sets," stated Leapstone President and CEO Rick Orriss. "We are working hard to move these highly compatible solutions out to all of our key target markets. As fellow Multiservice Switching Forum (MSF) members, we expect that the results of the recently completed Global MSF Interoperability Event (GMI) 2004 will further demonstrate to the industry the value of the open platforms and service architectures that Leapstone and IP Unity offer."

"Leapstone Systems brings great value to both incumbent and next generation carriers," stated IP Unity SVP Business Development, Dr. Keith Bhatia. "The company's depth of experience with top-tier carriers and great momentum from its win at Verizon Wireless match well with IP Unity's expertise in IP feature sets and very large deployments at RBOCs and cable operators. The interactions we have had with Leapstone through joint customer activities and the MSF GMI event have been extremely rewarding. We look forward to collaborating with them on joint marketing and on many more high-impact wins with carriers demanding the highest performance in terms of new feature activation and seamless, rapid service delivery."
