New offering lets enterprise customers launch interactive voice response-based customer service functions in minutes – no tools, no incremental costs, no delay

Spring VON 2007, SAN JOSE, Calif — March 20, 2007— IP Unity Glenayre, Inc., a new leader in delivering carrier-grade messaging and multimedia solutions over IP, TDM and enterprise networks, announced today that its feature-rich Mereon Video Conferencing application is now generally available to all served markets worldwide.

IP Unity Glenayre finalized the feature set for worldwide availability, including

  • Click-to-Conference (C2C) enables subscribers to easily start an instant ad hoc conference with a group of subscribers, from web interface or their desktop.
  • High-resolution display of images, imported video streams via support for .3gp and MPEG4 video formats.
  • Display of video conferencing signals on many different end-user devices via automatic transcoding, frame rate control, rate matching between video streams.
  • Use of all applicable audio and web conferencing service features, including easy-to-use participant controls, extensive moderator controls, multiple skin options and in-conference operator assistance.
  • Easy-to-use moderator-controlled features include in-conference paging, on-demand conference provisioning and whisper mode.
  • Voice-activated switching with highlighted active speaker.
  • Video and audio recording and playback.
  • Complementary collaboration features include desktop sharing, URL and file sharing, collaboration with most standard document types, white boarding, PowerPoint slide sharing, remote control of another user’s PC, and the ability to pass controls between conferencing participants.

“We are very pleased to deliver this highly user-friendly platform to service providers and large organizations, as it makes video conferencing an effortless and cost-effective reality. Particularly for subscribers who want an intuitive and feature-rich service, the service enabled by this platform is a dream,” stated IP Unity Glenayre CEO Arun Sobti. “We have taken away the need for video conferences to be staffed by a trained moderator, and we have eliminated the complicated set-up process and extensive scheduling requirements. This ushers in the era of ad hoc, self-moderated video events and learn-as-you-go user controls. It’s really a brand new experience.”

Mereon Video Conferencing offers service providers a high availability platform that leverages their existing networks, detailed CDR (call detail records), support for VoIP, a range of audio compression schemes, the ability to deliver video conferencing screens and menus in a variety of end-user languages, enhanced security protection, and extensive customization and private label branding flexibility.
